The Sejm (lower house of parliament) of Poland has voted in favor of a bill on temporarily limiting the granting of the right to asylum. This was reported by TVP Info on February 21.

It is specified that 386 people's deputies voted in favor of the act, against - 38, there were no abstentions.

At the same time, earlier MPs voted against the proposal to reject the draft in its entirety.

The Sejm supported the amendment submitted at the request of the Polish government "Third Way 2050", which excludes the separation of families at the border. The amendment was reported in a committee by Maciej Duszczyk, deputy head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

MPs also rejected amendments proposed by the left-wing party, including one to expand the vulnerable group to all minors, not just those left without care.

The bill will now go to the Senate.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on February 7 that the country would not abide by the European Union (EU) Migration Pact and host migrants. He noted that the republic had already accepted almost 2m Ukrainian refugees.
