- Kovalchuk spoke about the prospects for scientific cooperation between Russia and the United States

Russia is open to scientific cooperation with the United States, President of the National Research Center (NRC) "Kurchatov Institute" Mikhail Kovalchuk said on February 21 on the sidelines of the Future Technologies Forum. Mikhail Kovalchuk on the margins of the Future Technologies Forum.
This was his response to a question from an Izvestia correspondent about how the warming of relations between Russia and the United States could affect scientific cooperation between the countries.
"We'll see how it will be. We are always open to cooperation, but next we will look at who behaved towards us before, that's the first thing. And the second thing is that we are very busy with our own projects, we are short-handed, so we will watch carefully. We are open to cooperation, we are interested, but we will look carefully, regardless of the political situation," Kovalchuk said.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum that Russia invites foreign scientists to work together. The head of state expressed hope that Western politicians will realize the perniciousness of attempts to interrupt contacts between workers in the scientific sphere and education.
