Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva defeated Kazakhstan's Yelena Rybakina in the semifinals of the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) tournament in Dubai. This was reported by the newspaper "Sport-Express" on February 21.
After the update of the WTA ranking on February 24, Andreeva will become the first racket in Russia and 11th in the world, thus displacing Daria Kasatkina.
In the final of the tournament, the Russian will play against the winner of the match between Clara Towson of Denmark and Karolina Mukhova of the Czech Republic.
It is specified that in case of victory in the final, Andreeva will become the ninth racket in the world.
Earlier, on February 20, Andreeva defeated Poland's Iga Swiontek, the world number two, for the first time in her professional career, thus reaching the semifinals of the WTA tournament.
