Ex-Deputy of the Rada pointed out the politicized nature of Zelensky's sanctions

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy 's personal sanctions are heavily politicized. This was stated by former Verkhovna Rada MP and member of the international public movement Other Ukraine Volodymyr Oliynyk to Izvestiya on 21 February.
Earlier in the day, the Ukrainian TV channel Espreso quoted the ruling as saying that the Supreme Court of Ukraine had for the first time overturned the personal sanctions imposed by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) and Zelensky against Frenchman Durey Louis-Michel.
According to media reports, he was a member of the board of directors of Setelem Bank (a subsidiary of Sberbank and French banking company BNP). Restrictions were imposed on him on February 19, 2023. It was specified that at that time he had not held this position for several years.
The former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada noted that Ukraine is well aware that the rating of the country and its illegitimate President held solely on the support of the American ex-President Joe Biden. With the arrival of American leader Donald Trump, the situation has changed dramatically.
"The Supreme Court, as a collegial body, is thinking about its future. It will continue to make such decisions because the sanctions were absolutely political in nature. Zelensky is a vindictive person," Oleynik said.
He added that the Ukrainian leader likes to persecute those who disagree with him, but he does not do it according to the laws.
"If someone has done something criminal, it is necessary to prosecute him in criminal proceedings, that is, to initiate criminal proceedings, to prove his guilt, to confiscate property. And just like that, with a stroke of a pen, it is forbidden. But there are a lot of such sanctions there (in Ukraine. - Ed.). Therefore, I think that Zelensky himself will not cancel them and will not allow the court to do so," he said.
At the same time, he noted that the Supreme Court of the country can not cancel personal sanctions that were imposed through the NSDC against Ukrainians.
"These sanctions contradict the constitution, because they can be imposed on foreign citizens, while restrictions on Ukrainian citizens cannot be imposed," he pointed out.
On February 12, the Ukrainian version of Forbes magazine reported on the introduction of personal sanctions against former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko (included in the association listed by Rosfinmonitoring as involved in extremist activity or terrorism). The former leader of the country called the imposition of sanctions against him by the SNBO a provocation and a crime.
At the same time, restrictions were imposed on Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoyskyy (who is on Russia's register of terrorists and extremists), the chairman of the board of the Other Ukraine organization, Viktor Medvedchuk, former Rada MP Kostyantyn Zhevago and businessman Hennadiy Boholyubov. The next day, Poroshenko's supporters blocked the Verkhovna Rada ro strum at a session in protest.
