Officials from the White House recognize that the US administration itself has created a monster in the person of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This was reported by the Axios portal on February 21.

"We have created a monster in the person of Zelenskyy, and these Europeans obsessed with [US President Donald] Trump <...> are giving him terrible advice," an anonymous White House official said.

The portal pointed out that the Ukrainian president is too much used to the fact that the previous American leader Joe Biden openly supported him, NATO countries transferred any help, and the media accompanied all his actions with positive publications. Because of this, Zelensky is now "overreacting."

Another White House official told Axios that the Ukrainian president is an actor who made a typical mistake and started thinking that he is actually the person whose role he plays on television. Zelensky wouldn't have lasted this long if the U.S. hadn't spent millions of dollars, and now he "needs to get off the stage right with all this drama."

Another official recalled that during the week, the Ukrainian president was rude to U.S. Treasury Chief Scott Bessent, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President Jay Dee Vance, and later moved on to personally insult Trump.

On February 20, CNN reported that the White House was frustrated with Zelensky's behavior, whose rhetoric is interfering with the Ukrainian conflict, which is supposed to end. Trump's aides have recently been following the Ukrainian president's public statements with alarm.

The American newspaper The Hill reported on the same day that Ukrainian MPs and officials consider the public conflict between Zelensky and Trump, which has begun, to be a disaster. The publication explained that the aggravation of relations between the presidents occurred when the American leader criticized Zelensky for mistakes, and the latter responded by saying that Trump was "in a bubble of misinformation".

At the same time, Trump's national security adviser Michael Waltz emphasized that the Ukrainian president's criticism of the US leader was offensive and unacceptable.
