The Spanish authorities were shocked by the words of US President Donald Trump about Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the Spanish Ministry of Defense Margarita Robles on February 21, reports the Spanish edition 20minutos.

So she commented on the critical statements of the American leader, made on Wednesday, February 19, to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Robles said she was "shocked" by Trump's speech, who "in a mad grimace wanted to rewrite history, which is impossible to rewrite." She also emphasized that the EU maintains "firm and unwavering support for Ukraine" because the very foundations of European integration depend on the outcome of the conflict.

On February 19, Trump said that Zelensky had "done a terrible job" that had left his country destroyed and "millions of people" killed in vain. On the same day, the US leader indicated that Ukraine needed to hold elections to earn a place at the negotiating table. In addition, the US president said that Kiev could not account for where it had spent the funds transferred by Washington.
