Chelyabinsk Region Transportation Minister arrested in embezzlement case

Meshchansky district court of Moscow has sent Alexei Nechayev, Minister of Roads and Transportation of the Chelyabinsk region, to pre-trial detention. This is reported on February 21 in the Telegram-channel of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.

"The decision of the Meshchansky district court of Moscow satisfied the petition of the preliminary investigation authorities to elect a measure of restraint in the form of remand in custody against Alexei Sergeevich Nechaev, accused of committing a crime under part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Appropriation or embezzlement committed by an organized group or on a particularly large scale"), for a period of one month and 22 days" - stated in the message.

It is specified that the court refused to satisfy the request of the defendant's lawyers to elect a more lenient measure of restraint, not related to custody.

On February 19, the press service of the FSSB of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region reported the detention of Nechaev. He became head of the regional ministry in 2019.
