A Hungarian company will provide natural gas to the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic (TMR), Reuters reported on 21 February, citing a statement by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó

According to him, the gas will not be supplied directly from Hungary. It is noted that the supply will be carried out by a company owned by Hungary, but not from its territory.

President of the unrecognized republic Vadim Krasnoselsky pointed out the possibility of gas supply by the Hungarian company MET Gas and Energy Marketing AG thanks to the support of the Russian Federation and functional assistance on February 10. He noted that the republic would be supplied with gas and the energy system of the region should stabilize.

On February 14, Krasnoselsky announced the start of gas supplies with the support of the Russian Federation.

Former Moldovan president and leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon said on February 4 that the energy crisis in the unrecognized republic was created by Kiev and Chisinau, which seek to provoke a humanitarian catastrophe on the left bank of the Dnieper.
