Russian authorities expand support measures for electrically heated households

Taking into account the appeal of citizens, the Russian government has decided to change the cost of electricity for houses heated by electric appliances. This was announced by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers on its official website on February 21.
"The government has expanded the possibility of applying a seasonal coefficient to the maximum value of electricity consumption for people living in houses equipped with electric heating units," the statement said.
From 2025, the authorities have introduced differentiation of electricity tariffs. It is noted that the maximum amount of consumption per month in the first range was up to 3,900 kWh, in the second - from 3,900 to 6,000 kWh, and in the third - more than 6,000 kWh.
At the same time, in regions with gasification of less than 5% in January-April 2025, an increasing seasonal coefficient of 1.8 may be applied to the maximum volumes of the first and second ranges for homes with electric heating.
This norm will now be adjusted, so that the increasing coefficient for homes with electric heating can be applied in any subject of the country during the entire heating season, regardless of the volume of consumption.
"In addition, regional authorities will have to revise electricity tariffs for the population no later than March 1, 2025, based on the extension of the increasing seasonal coefficient of 1.8," - specified in the publication.
Earlier, on February 13, real estate expert CEO of MC "TERRA" Julia Fedorova told about ways to save money on payment for housing and communal services (HCS). According to the expert, it is realistic to reduce utility bills if you carefully monitor the condition of plumbing, reduce energy consumption and know your rights.
