Likhachev called the construction of the El Dabaa NPP a symbol of cooperation between Russia and Egypt

The construction of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant (NPP) in Egypt with the assistance of the Russian state corporation Rosatom will become the largest nuclear construction project on the planet in 2025. This was stated by Alexei Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, at the Future Technologies Forum on February 21, answering Izvestia's question.

"As of today, the project is going according to plan, is a symbol of the developing Egyptian-Russian cooperation, and this year will become the largest nuclear construction project on the planet both in terms of area and number of people," he believes.

Likhachev also noted that international sanctions will not be able to prevent the construction of the facility.

El Dabaa NPP should be fully operational by spring 2030.

Earlier, on February 5, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko told Izvestia that the construction of El Dabaa NPP is strictly on schedule. He noted that all four power units are currently under construction. The equipment to be installed at the plant is also being actively produced - its delivery to the construction site and installation has already begun. The Ambassador added that the difficulties associated with sanctions are being successfully overcome.
