Ukraine reported the abduction of a priest by TCC employees


In Zhytomyr Region, employees of the territorial manning center (TMC, the Ukrainian equivalent of military recruitment offices) have kidnapped Pavlo Kushnirchuk, a priest of the Ovruch-Korosten diocese of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). This was reported by the Union of Orthodox Journalists(UOC) on February 21, citing his wife.
According to the priest's wife, he was kidnapped on February 19, in the evening of February 20 the man was brought to Zhytomyr, and at night he was taken away again in an unknown direction.
Also Kushnirchuk's spouse said that he did not get in touch after he got on the bus. His current location is unknown.
Earlier, on January 29, SPJ reported that in Cherkasy, police charged four defenders of the Archangel Michael Cathedral with hooliganism. Among them are two laymen and two clergymen.
On the night of October 17, 2024 it became known about the attack on the parishioners of the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkassy. As reported in the Telegram-channel of Cherkassy diocese, during the night liturgy about 100 people in camouflage and balaclavas broke into the territory of the temple and drove all the believers out of there. The attackers took away people's cell phones and knocked down video surveillance cameras.
