The therapist gave tips on how to prepare the male body for the off-season

The transition from winter to spring can be accompanied by fatigue, metabolic disorders and exacerbation of chronic diseases. This is especially true for men, who often ignore prevention and treatment. The therapist of the Scandinavian Health Center Olga Chistik told Izvestia on February 23 how men can support the body at the end of winter. At the same time, SBER EAPTECA and Cooper analyzed the demand for vitamins for men.
Chistik recommended paying attention to diet and physical activity. According to the doctor, in the spring, the diet should include products rich in protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats. The optimal choice is lean meat, fish, legumes, whole grain products and vegetable oils. A split diet - eating small meals four to five times a day - helps maintain a stable energy level, and adequate water intake helps normalize metabolic processes.
"During the off-season, the body is particularly vulnerable and also needs physical activity. Moderate aerobic exercise, such as walking, running and bicycling, helps to improve the cardiovascular system. Strength training is useful for maintaining muscle mass in men, while stretching and yoga help prevent injuries and relieve stress," the therapist said.
The therapist added that if winter activity was low, the load should be increased gradually to avoid overstrain and adapt the body to the spring rhythm.
She also advised men to consider the use of hydrolyzed collagen with vitamin C, arginine, multivitamin complexes with group B, C and zinc.
In turn, pharmacist and head of pharmacy SBER EAPTECA Dmitry Gurov explained that taking additional vitamins and minerals at the end of winter will strengthen the immune system and fight fatigue in men.
"Vitamin D supports the health of the neuromuscular system, B vitamins help convert proteins, fats and carbohydrates into energy, which the body uses during the day, vitamin E strengthens the walls of blood vessels, improves reproductive function in men, and coenzyme Q10 is useful for heart health," he specified.
According to the sales data of SBER EAPTEKI, the growth in demand for vitamins for men in 2024 to 2023 amounted to 215%. Russians more often buy them in the fall and late winter. In the first month and a half of 2025, such products were purchased 241% more often than in the same period last year.
Cooper analysts confirm the data - according to the statistics, in 2024 the demand in the category "vitamins for men" increased by 49% compared to 2023. The most popular were supplements with collagen for joint health and strengthening ligaments, vitamin C, L-arginine and vitamin and mineral complexes.
Earlier, on February 3, Victoria Nikitinskaya, associate professor of the Department of Sports Disciplines at the State University of Education, told Izvestia that stretching exercises help to stretch the spine, stretch and pump the main muscle groups, restore and improve the quality of muscle fiber, as well as flexibility and mobility of joints. In addition, such an exercise reduces stress, reduces insomnia and increases efficiency.
