- The Council of Federation assessed reports on the timing of agreement on Ukraine's surrender

Media information that the European Union (EU) has been given three weeks to agree on Ukraine 's surrender is surprising, as the resolution of such issues does not fall within the association's area of responsibility. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Andrei Klimov on Friday, February 21.
"The territory of the European Union does not include, do not confuse the EU with the state, it is a union of European states, created to solve their internal economic problems and issues of their interaction with other countries. The jurisdiction of the EU ends with the borders of the member states," - emphasized Klimov in conversation with Lenta.Ru.
Earlier, a member of the European Parliament (EP) from Finland Mika Aaltola said that U.S. President Donald Trump gave the EU three weeks to agree on the terms of Ukraine's surrender, reports 360.ru.
According to him, the American leader believes that Europe should deal with the issue on its own, RT reports.
Officially, European governments reject such formulations on surrender and the deadlines given by Trump, aif. ru reported.
On February 20, Politico newspaper learned of European politicians' fears that the transatlantic alliance may be coming to an end. On February 19, the Financial Times reported that without Washington's support, the EU countries are unable to conduct any military operation.
NBC also specified that the U.S. may reduce its military presence in Europe due to priorities in the Asia-Pacific region and the situation on the border with Mexico.
