In Chelyabinsk, a criminal case has been opened over the death of a newborn baby in a maternity hospital. This was reported on February 21 by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Chelyabinsk region in Telegram-channel.

It is specified that in the local maternity hospital 23-year-old girl gave birth to a child. However, after birth, the boy's health deteriorated, so he was placed in the intensive care unit, where he died of pneumonia.

"At present, the investigator of the IC of Russia requested medical documents, appointed a forensic medical examination, all the circumstances of the incident are being established," - stated in the statement of the department.

A criminal case was initiated under part 2 of article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence due to improper performance of professional duties by a person").
