The smell of manure has once again enveloped Lipetsk

The strong smell of manure once again enveloped Lipetsk in the evening on Thursday, February 20. This problem has not been solved for almost 10 years. GOROD48 sent questions to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment about whether the ministry has identified the source of the odor and what measures will be taken against the culprit.

For the first time the stench in the regional capital citizens felt in the spring, and then in the fall of 2016. A poultry farm was named as one of the options for the source of the stench. However, then the prosecutor's office found that the company "Koloss" fertilized the fields near the cement plant with chicken litter. This caused the fecal odor.

As soon as the stench appeared in early 2018, environmentalists immediately went to the company's fields, but it did not help. In October of the same year, the prosecutor's office made a submission to the general director of KoloSS. Almost a year later, the regional Department of Ecology and Natural Resources held a press conference, at which it was stated that an investigation into the causes of the stench was launched.

In the summer of 2024, citizens again felt the disgusting odor of manure. In September of the same year, the prosecutor's office announced that the general director of KoloSS was fined 100 thousand rubles for soil contamination.
