- Sobyanin presented the badge of honorary citizen of Moscow to veteran Boris Kravtsov

The mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin presented a sign of honorary citizen of Moscow to the front-line soldier and Hero of the Soviet Union Boris Kravtsov. This was announced by the head of the city in his official Telegram-channel.
"102-year-old Boris Vasilyevich is a man of very interesting and amazing fate, participated in the fighting on the South-Western, Stalingrad and Don fronts. He took part in the Battle of Kharkov, went through the Battle of Stalingrad, was awarded many orders and medals," - wrote Sobyanin.
On October 24, 1943 near Zaporozhye, Senior Lieutenant Kravtsov with a group of scouts crossed the Dnieper River to Khortitsa Island and transmitted target instructions to the artillery by radio, which ensured the suppression of enemy fire points. When the German troops surrounded the scouts' dugout, Kravtsov called the fire of the Soviet artillery to his position, which allowed to clear it from the enemy. The Red Army soldiers themselves survived the shelling.
For this feat Guards Senior Lieutenant Kravtsov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the medal "Gold Star".
After the war, Boris devoted his life to serving the law and later became one of the founders of the Russian Association of Heroes. Today he is the last living Hero of the Soviet Union who received this title during the Great Patriotic War.
