Over the past day, 190 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 10 people were killed and 241 injured. Eight of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Friday, February 20, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 69 accidents involving pedestrians, two people died, another 70 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 16 child pedestrians, 10 of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents with pedestrians, 41 occurred at crosswalks and 28 outside their zone of action.
On Thursday, 17 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person died, 27 more road users, including one child, required medical assistance. Seven accidents involving buses were caused by violations of traffic rules committed by their drivers.

Thus, in Stavropol Krai on a regional highway, a 54-year-old driver of a bus with one passenger in the cabin in a prohibited place went into the oncoming lane, where he collided with an SUV, after which the bus was hit by another SUV, which was traveling behind it in the opposite direction. The driver of the first passenger car was killed in the accident. Two passengers from that car and the bus driver were hospitalized with injuries. The only passenger of the bus received bodily injuries and after medical aid was sent for outpatient treatment. Preliminarily, the car accident occurred because the bus driver failed to control the bus on a slippery winter road and then drove into the oncoming traffic lane.

With the participation of minors 27 accidents were registered, 27 young road users were injured, including 10 passengers. There were no children killed.

On the eve of the weekend the State Automobile Inspectorate urged motorists to observe traffic rules and be more attentive on the roads of settlements and cities. Special care should be taken when driving when approaching crosswalks, reducing speed in front of them up to a complete stop to allow pedestrians crossing the roadway. The behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so you should not be in a hurry to resume driving even at a permissive traffic signal. It is important to make sure the crossing is completely clear of pedestrians.

"We remind parents to control the leisure time and behavior of their young children during the weekend. Do not let them go out alone, unsupervised, especially in the evening. Take walks together. To improve the visibility of young pedestrians to drivers of vehicles in the dark, be sure to use light-reflecting elements on children's outer clothing. Lack of parental control over the behavior and leisure of children of preschool and primary school age often leads to injury or death of young road users," - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of road safety propaganda and prevention of child traffic injuries of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.

The day before, it was reported that Russia is working on introducing a ban on the distribution of surrogate child restraint devices (CRD) for cars on marketplaces. Roskachestvo said that they were working on this issue together with Rosstandart and State Duma deputies.
