Sweden reported damage to an undersea cable in the Baltic Sea

The submarine cable running from Finland to Germany was damaged within the exclusive economic zone of Sweden near the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. This is reported by SVT TV channel on February 21 with reference to the Coast Guard of the country.
The Swedish Defense Ministry has been informed about the incident. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
"A vessel is being sent to the scene to assist in the investigation," the TV channel quotes the press service of the agency as saying.
Law enforcers assume that the cable may have been damaged as a result of an external impact.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson wrote in the social network X (former Twitter) that he was notified about the incident.
On January 26, an undersea fiber-optic cable between Latvia and Sweden in the Baltic Sea was damaged. It was noted that the company's monitoring systems recorded interruptions in data transmission on the section between Latvia's Ventspils and Sweden's Gotland.
