VTB's portfolio of unallocated metal accounts increased by almost 20% by the end of 2024. Clients concluded more than 190 thousand transactions on purchase of precious metals. Their volume on OMS increased by 6 tons, the press service of the credit organization reported.

In total, VTB has 76 thousand unallocated metal accounts, which hold more than 41 tons of precious metals. In 2024, the average "check" of OMS in the mass retail segment amounted to 180 g.

According to Evgeny Beresnev, deputy head of sales of investment products of Private Banking and "Privilege" of VTB, OMC is an easy way to start forming your investment portfolio.

"The high demand for precious metals is explained by the growth of the exchange rate. For example, over 2024, gold in rubles has risen in price by more than 40%. This metal is a good alternative investment, which allows in periods of global geopolitical instability to hedge currency risks and diversify one's savings. Silver has also almost doubled in rubles since 2023, platinum - by 30%," he commented.

Gold remains one of the most profitable assets: according to the Central Bank of Russia, for 2024 the yield on it amounted to 43%, for 2023 - 46%. The volume of gold on metal accounts in VTB increased by more than 760 kg.
