The stern of the Volgoneft-239 tanker was half dismantled


The stern part of the tanker Volgoneft-239, which crashed in the Black Sea, has been half dismantled. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Transport on February 21.
"Dismantling of the tanker "Volgoneft-239" is half done. More than 350 tons of metal was handed over for recycling," - stated in the Telegram-channel.
It is also specified that at the moment the final stage of cutting of the aft part of the vessel is underway. In addition, the work related to the aft part will be completed by March 31 this year.
In addition, during three days in the area of Dzhemete pier divers collected 100 bags of fuel oil weighing 5 kg. Another 420 thousand square meters of water area bottom was surveyed. Also, 186 bags of fuel oil weighing 9.3 kg were unloaded near the Vityazevo pier.
Earlier, on February 6, the first batch of dismantled metal was removed from the tanker "Volgoneft-239". It was reported that as part of the ongoing work, specialists began processing more than 50 tons of metal, 10 tons of which have already been removed by truck.
On January 31, specialists started the works on the Volgoneft-239 tanker scrapping. It was noted that works on pumping out fuel oil from the tanker's stern part were completed on January 25, which made it possible to proceed to the recycling stage.
Tankers "Volgoneft-212" and "Volgoneft-239" due to bad weather crashed in the Kerch Strait on December 15, 2024. The incident resulted in a spill of oil products. 27 people were evacuated from both vessels, one person died. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a working group was set up to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of the emergency.
