- FT pointed to a threat to Europe's plans for the moon because of NASA's Artemis project review

US President Donald Trump's team's revision of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) Artemis project threatens Europe's plans for lunar exploration. The Financial Times (FT) reported on February 21.
"The European Space Agency (ESA. - Ed.) is preparing for the possible cancellation by US President Donald Trump of key elements of the Artemis lunar program, which is the vehicle for many of Europe's lunar ambitions," the publication noted.
Daniel Neuenschwander, head of robotic and manned exploration at ESA, said the United States is Europe's most important partner in space exploration, but now "there is a change on the U.S. side."
In addition, international partnerships remain "an important part of the Artemis campaign," the NASA spokesperson emphasized.
It is specified that talks about the lunar program began after the American entrepreneur and head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Ilon Musk began to review NASA spending, including the Artemis program worth about $100 billion.
As The Hill reported on January 12, Trump could resume active work with Russia in the space industry and offer it participation in a joint program to bring the current conflict in Ukraine to a quicker end. It was noted that for the American president could "sweeten the deal" on peace by offering Russian President Vladimir Putin participation in the Artemis program.
