The State Duma will consider the feasibility of online training for medics

State Duma deputies will consider issues of improving the quality of medical education, in particular, they will be able to discuss the feasibility of distance learning. This was announced by the Chairman of the lower house of Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin on February 21.
"It is impossible to get a new qualification or specialization online without practical training in university centers, colleges, scientific institutions, where there is a clinical base. Therefore, we believe it is correct to discuss next week the feasibility of using electronic and distance learning," he wrote in his Telegram channel.
Volodin explained that every year about 1 million medical workers take refresher courses. Services of this kind are provided by private firms, and many courses are conducted remotely.
Such training of health care workers affects citizens first of all, as this format of training reduces the quality of medical care, "Gazeta.Ru" added.
In December 2024, the State Duma passed in the third reading the law "On Amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation", which introduces amendments of fundamental importance for health care workers. In particular, Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation now does not apply to cases of provision of medical services that do not meet safety requirements.
