Fraudsters have invented a new way to deceive Russians with alleged kidnapping and ransom for release. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Interior Ministry Irina Volk on February 21.

"Phone scammers can force people who believe them to interrupt communication with loved ones and go to another region. Meanwhile, they inform their relatives about the kidnapping and, threatening death, demand to transfer large sums to them," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

Volk told about a recent incident when the attackers persuaded a 16-year-old teenager from Moscow to sell his mother's jewelry and go to the Vladimir region to give them the money they received.

Meanwhile, the young man's mother received a message that her son had been kidnapped and was in danger of "physical violence". To avoid this, she had to immediately transfer 500 thousand rubles to the kidnappers.

The woman appealed to the police, the schoolboy was located, his life and health are not threatened. It is specified that he did not have time to transfer the money to the criminals.

The day before in the Department for the organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned of a new method of fraud with the code from the intercom.

It was specified that the attackers call citizens on behalf of the management company and inform them about the imminent replacement of the entrance door. After discussing the details, the callers ask to dictate the personal code sent to the person's phone - with the help of it the significant data of the citizen gets to the swindlers.
