US Secretary of State urged to establish diplomatic contacts with Russia

Russia and the United States need to establish diplomatic relations and dialog between the states. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said this on February 21 in an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge, published on her page on social page X (former Twitter).
"At the end of the day, whether we like it or not, Russia is a power, a global power. We have to have some kind of communication with them," he believes.
According to Rubio, it is necessary to restore the work of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, which is now "barely functioning." He noted that diplomatic channels are important not only for discussing global issues, but also for solving situations related to the security of countries.
In addition, Rubio added that the U.S. should have contacts with the nation that has the largest arsenal of tactical nuclear weapons in the world.
Thetalks between the delegations of Russia and the United States took place at one of the royal family's palaces in Riyadh on February 18. Following the meeting, the US State Department said that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had agreed to appoint high-level negotiating teams to start work on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
