Russia should ensure its sovereignty, including the extraction of rare earth metals and minerals for industrial needs. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko during his visit to the Future Technologies Forum exhibition in Moscow on February 21.

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade presented the national project "New Materials and Chemistry" at the Forum. The ministry's stand displayed developments and samples in four areas of the national project: chemistry, biotechnology, composites and rare earth metals.

"It is extremely important that Russia ensures its sovereignty, including mining, for the needs of our industry. It is also important to form directions and invest in science: the processing of these materials and the creation of technologies based on them," the deputy prime minister said.

One of the leaders of modern Russian materials science - "Kurchatov Institute" - demonstrated aircraft parts made using additive technologies, polymeric materials for medical applications, heat-resistant materials for engine construction, special cold-resistant steels, coatings for Arctic applications and other developments.

Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, presented a composite material blocking radiation. He noted that there is cooperation between Russian high-tech corporations.

In the Moscow Government area Chernyshenko presented samples of the latest materials and products manufactured at Moscow enterprises. Among them are lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries, composite panels, carbon fibers, innovative construction materials and many others.

"Moscow actively promotes research and development in the sphere of new materials. The prospects for utilizing the achievements in this field are enormous. It concerns not only industry, but also the everyday life of the capital's residents," commented Anatoly Garbuzov, Minister of the Moscow City Government, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.

The Future Technologies Forum, which will be held on February 20-21, 2025 in Moscow, will bring together leading Russian and foreign scientists, industry leaders, technology entrepreneurs and experts. The main theme of the Forum is "New Materials and Chemistry". Last year the Forum was attended by more than 1,800 people from 19 countries.
