The frigate Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov conducted exercises to protect Russian interests in the Arctic

The crew of the frigate "Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov" held a training exercise to protect Russia's maritime interests in the Arctic on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day. This was reported in the press service of the Northern Fleet (NF) on February 21.

"On the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the crew of the frigate "Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov" held a training on the defense of Russia's maritime interests in the Arctic. During the training, a number of training and combat tasks were practiced in accordance with the ship's mission, including artillery firing. According to the plan of the training, the forces of the conditional enemy are deployed in the Barents Sea, they made an attempt to land a sea landing on the coast of the Kola Peninsula", - reported in the department.

During the training, specialists of the ship's radio-technical combat unit successfully detected and identified the target - an amphibious landing group of the conditional enemy that landed on the coast. After that, the calculation of the A-192M artillery complex took the target for escort and then successfully hit it at a distance of 14 km from the ship.

"On Defender of the Fatherland Day, I would like to wish the defenders of the Fatherland to be brave, responsible, ready to fulfill their tasks at any moment. And [to be] with a sense of humor, because there is nothing without it in the navy," said the frigate's radiometrician, Ensign Vasily.

Also at sea, the crew of the warship held a tactical exercise on radiation, chemical and biological defense during enemy combat operations.

"In the course of practicing one of the episodes of the exercise, with the receipt of the command "radiation danger", the system of universal water protection was switched on, as well as created air pressure in the ship's rooms", - reported in the department.

As part of such training, the North Sea crew practiced the standards for putting on protective equipment and gas masks.

In addition to the Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov, the Northern Fleet has two more frigates of the same project - Admiral of the Soviet Union Fleet Gorshkov and Admiral Golovko.

The opening ceremony was attended by the crews of the Russian Navy's Pacific Fleet corvettes "Rezky" and "Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov".
