The air temperature in Moscow in late February and early March is expected to be higher than the climatic norm, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, told Izvestia.

Snowfalls in late February should not be expected in the capital, he noted.

"There will be increased pressure, and air masses are carried from the north, they are not sufficiently saturated with moisture," Vilfand explained.

Until February 23-24, the average daily air temperatures, he said, will remain negative.

"Even in the daytime, the temperature will tend to the zero mark, but will not reach it. On February 25-26, there is a high probability that night temperatures will already be weakly negative, from -5 to -1 degrees. And daytime temperatures will be around zero," he emphasized.

This suggests that in late February and early March, the air temperature in Moscow will be above the norm by several degrees. But the south of the European part of the country, on the contrary, is waiting for the arrival of cold air masses. In the period of February 23-25 in the northwest of the country will be warmer than in the Krasnodar region, Stavropol and the Crimea, emphasized Vilfand.
