Businesses have begun to attract workers from Africa and South America

Due to the shortage of personnel, businesses have become more active in attracting labor from other countries - in particular, from Africa, Latin America and South Asia. This is reported in the February report of the Bank of Russia, which was studied by Izvestia.
According to the Central Bank's data, a trading company in Sakhalin has hired a consultant to help foreigners coming from far away with migration documents. And a garment factory in Bashkortostan has received approval to hire specialists from Southeast Asia.
"Migrants are most actively employed in the industries that are most in shortage of personnel - construction, agriculture and housing and utilities," said Yulia Florinskaya, a leading researcher at the Social Analysis and Forecasting Laboratory of the Presidential Academy.
The main reason for attracting workers from far abroad is the shortage of personnel. The deficit has developed due to the demographic "hole", the overflow of labor resources to military service and defense industry enterprises, as well as a reduction in migration from CIS countries, explained Olga Belenkaya, head of macroeconomic analysis at Finam.
However, in the coming years, the number of foreigners working in Russia will remain - they will be citizens of Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, added Yulia Florinskaya. According to her, so far no state can compete with them on the number of migrant workers who come to us.
