- Zakharova called Kiev's exasperation with the world's acceptance of Russian Federation the reason for the attack on the CPC

Russia does not rule out that by attacking the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) Kiev wanted to show its anger at the growing global understanding of Moscow's policy. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), on February 20.
According to her, with the strike on the CPC Kiev showed its understanding of the need to reach the end of the conflict in Ukraine while taking into account Russia's interests and realities on the ground.
"We do not rule out that in this way the current leadership <...> sought to demonstrate its impotent bitterness at the growing understanding in the world of Russia's just policy with regard to the conflict over Ukraine and the need to reach its conclusion while taking into account Russian interests and realities 'on the ground,'" Zakharova said on the official website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
She also noted that the Russian side continues to assess the damage and long-term consequences of the strike.
"The deliberate attack on the Kropotkinskaya NPS is a low-brow attempt to undermine mutually beneficial international cooperation in the most important sphere of energy security, where Russia has always been and will remain, despite any insinuations and provocations, a reliable and indispensable participant," Zakharova concluded.
On February 17, drones attacked an oil pumping station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, but there were no casualties among the personnel. The workers were able to prevent the threat of an oil spill. At the moment, the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station has been taken out of operation.
