The publication of book excerpts in various periodicals is useful because more readers learn about a new literary work that may interest them. This was stated by Russian writer Vera Bogdanova in a conversation with Izvestia on February 21.

She noted that the more editions publish different excerpts from new books, including those by not the most popular authors, the better, because it helps to attract the public's attention.

"This, again, will interest completely different readers who may have never heard of this author or these books, and maybe somehow inspire readers to go to the bookstore and buy this book," Bogdanova said.

She explained that publishing fragments of literary works in periodicals is a common practice, and excerpts from her new books have been published in various magazines.

The writer noted that she would like to be part of the global literary process together with other Russian authors. For this purpose, both readers and writers should be aware of what is happening in the book sphere. Bogdanova suggested that it might be preferable for domestic publications to publish more Russian-language authors.

The writer added that books are now competing for attention with gadgets and various applications, and publishers are trying to attract attention to new works in different ways. Therefore, it is necessary to choose the most interesting and dynamic passages that can guarantee interest.

Earlier in the day, writer Alexander Tsypkin said in a conversation with Izvestia that the newspaper's decision to revive the long-standing tradition of publishing fragments of new works on its pages is a great idea. It does not matter whether the book is by a foreign author or a Russian one - it is much more important that it be good.

"Izvestia is returning to a long-standing tradition of publishing new works by the main writers of our time. Maxim Gorky, Mikhail Sholokhov, Andrei Voznesensky, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Vasily Shukshin, Valentin Rasputin were published on the pages of the newspaper in different years.

The first in the series was an exclusive excerpt from the new novel by Susan Collins on the universe of "The Hunger Games" - "Dawn of the Harvest". The book will be released in Russian in March, as well as in the rest of the world. This is the fifth installment of the popular franchise "The Hunger Games" and at the same time a prequel to the first novels. In Russia, the novel is released by the Neoclassic edition of the AST publishing house in the original cover.
