The Republic of South Africa (RSA) continues to work with the Russian Federation. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said this on February 20 on the margins of the meeting of G20 foreign policy chiefs in Johannesburg.

"We continue to work with Russia on a number of issues, certainly," Ramaphosa said in response to Izvestia's question.

The president added that South Africa is open to dialog with many countries.

"Excluding any countries from the dialog is not an instrument of our foreign policy," he said.

Earlier, on October 22, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Ramaphosa on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan. The Russian leader thanked the head of the African republic for coming to the event.

Before that, on September 26, South African Energy Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa told Izvestia that Russia is an important partner of the republic. In addition, Russia is one of the states that play an important role in achieving energy security in the world.
