Izvestiya's decision to revive the long-standing tradition of publishing new works by contemporary writers on its pages is an excellent idea, as people have an opportunity to get acquainted with the book before it is published. This opinion was expressed by writer Alexander Tsypkin in his commentary to Izvestia on February 20.

He noted that he himself once became famous thanks to the publication of his stories in the media - in the magazine Cosmopolitan, the newspaper Metro and Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

"I feel great about this initiative. Moreover, in a way, I became famous thanks to similar initiatives. <...> I think this is a great idea, and it is necessary to revive the opportunity for people in such a short format to familiarize themselves with this or that author, with his language, with style, and then make a decision to buy or not to buy a book," - said the writer.

According to Tsypkin, in this case it will not matter whether foreign or Russian authors are published in the media. The main thing is that their works should be good.

"And what difference does it make whether they are foreign or ours? Our authors are also published abroad. It seems to me that today it is not necessary to go beyond the limits of reason and say: "No, only domestic". After all, if the author leads a person to something light, what difference does it make which side?" he said. - he remarked.

Earlier in the day it was reported that Izvestia is returning to a long-standing tradition - to publish new works by the main writers of our time. On the pages of the newspaper in different years printed Maxim Gorky, Mikhail Sholokhov, Andrei Voznesensky, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Vasily Shukshin, Valentin Rasputin.

The first in the series was an exclusive excerpt from the new novel by Susan Collins on the universe of "The Hunger Games" "Dawn of the Harvest". The book will be released in Russian in March, as well as the rest of the world. This is the fifth installment of the popular franchise "The Hunger Games" and at the same time a prequel to the first novels. In Russia, the novel is being released by AST Publishing's Neoclassic edition in the original cover.
