A drug addict spoke about the formation and treatment of addiction to alcohol

Alcohol dependence is formed in everyone differently, and it depends on the progressiveness of the course. This was reported by psychiatrist-drug addict Alexey Kazantsev on Thursday, February 20.

"At someone it occurs over several years, at someone faster. The main manifestation of addiction is the loss of quantitative control, that is, when a person can not stop at the use of small doses of alcohol and at each feast begins to get drunk. Then comes the amnesia of intoxication - memory lapses, partial or complete", - explained the expert in conversation with "Radio 1".

According to the narcologist, the second stage of addiction is the hangover. The specialist noted that the standards of treatment in the state narcology is 21 days.

"It includes detoxification - excretion of the products of the decay of alcohol. Then follows general strengthening therapy with vitamin therapy, aimed at treating certain organs that have suffered (liver, heart, pancreas). Drugs are connected to improve memory, thinking, brain trophics. Psychological and psychotherapeutic help is provided," Kazantsev said.

He added that this treatment includes visiting self- and self-help groups, 12-step programs, as well as work with relatives of the sick.

February 19, doctor-gastroenterologist Evgenia Antipova said that the main cause of peptic ulcer disease is the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. She attributed alcohol abuse and smoking, long-term use of a number of medications, stress and nervous tension, hereditary predisposition to risk factors, RT reports.
