Expert names promising professions of the future

The labor market continues to change: new technologies appear, companies automate processes, and the requirements for employees change in line with the times. Ekaterina Bolotova, the coordinator of the career guidance festival "Day of Choice" from MAXIMUM Education, told Izvestia on February 21.
The expert noted that the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and the development of new technologies play a big role.
"Many processes are automated, and neural networks significantly help employees in their work. Some professions are disappearing for lack of necessity, however, contrary to popular belief, this does not mean that people will remain unemployed. On the contrary, specialists who are ready to master modern technologies and develop flexible skills will be in demand in various spheres," she said.
According to Bolotova, it is impossible to completely exclude humans from AI management, so companies are increasingly looking for specialists capable of developing, customizing and implementing intelligent systems.
Speaking about the professions that are in demand now and will be in demand in the coming years, she named a specialist in integrating AI into business processes. Such a person analyzes information about where and how companies can use artificial intelligence to improve efficiency, optimize costs and automate routine tasks.
The expert also noted a digital robot operator (RPA) who manages software solutions to automate workflows.
"To start a career in this area you can look at the following areas of study: applied mathematics and computer science, computer science, data analysis and machine learning," Bolotova added.
Other actively developing areas are biotechnology and digital medicine, the expert emphasized. Modern developments in genetic engineering and biotechnology make it possible to treat diseases at the cellular level, and digital solutions make medicine more personalized.
Among the professions that will appear in the near future, Bolotova named bioengineer (a specialist who creates artificial organs, tissues and new treatment methods), genetic counselor (he helps people predict disease risks based on DNA analysis), medical IT specialist (develops digital platforms for diagnostics and health monitoring).
"The following areas are best suited for doctors of the future: biotechnology, bioengineering, genetic engineering, medical cybernetics. With the development of online services and digital platforms, more and more companies need specialists who can develop, manage and protect digital products," the expert explained.
In addition, a large amount of information is now on digital media, and it is important that it cannot be stolen, so the demand for cybersecurity specialists will only grow from year to year, she added.
Meanwhile, employers are often looking for digital product architects, who design ecosystems of online services and platforms. There is also demand for cybersecurity specialists who prevent cyberattacks and protect personal data.
"The knowledge required for these professions can be obtained in the following areas: information security, cybersecurity and data protection, and computer systems security," Bolotova specified.
In her opinion, to get closer to the demanded professions of the future, schoolchildren should master digital skills, learn the basics of programming and understand data analysis. It is also useful to participate in Olympiads, hackathons and scientific competitions, project activities, internships and summer schools. In addition, flexible skills should be developed: critical thinking, teamwork and the ability to present ideas.
Earlier, on February 20, it was reported that the majority of Russian employers (64%) see a shortage of IT-specialists in the labor market, with 16% of them feel it very acutely. This is stated in the results of a survey of the platform for working with freelancers "Consol.Pro". The main shortage of staff is observed by respondents among Senior (40%) and Middle (39%).
