Deputy Sports Minister of Rostov region Gadarova was suspended from her post

Deputy Minister of Sports of Rostov region Svetlana Gadarova, who is suspected of taking a bribe, has been suspended from her post. This was reported in the press service of the regional government on February 20.

"Svetlana Armenakovna Gadarova, Deputy Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Rostov region, has been relieved of her post due to the expiration of the fixed-term service contract," TASS quoted the statement as saying.

The arrest of the deputy sports minister became known back in September last year. It was noted that in the period from September 4 to December 27, 2023 Gadarova received at least 80 thousand rubles from the spouse of the director of one of the companies. This was an illegal remuneration for general patronage and connivance in the service, which the Deputy Minister of Sports was supposed to provide to the firm.

A criminal case was also initiated against the suspect under Part 2 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receipt of a bribe in a significant amount by an official").
