Bundestag predicts EU ruin in case of Ukraine's accession

It is inexpedient to admit Ukraine to the EU as it will only ruin the bloc financially. This was stated by Bundestag MP from the party "Sarah Wagenknecht's Union for Reason and Justice" Sevim Dagdelen on February 20.
"We, "Sarah Wagenknecht's Union", unequivocally reject Ukraine's membership in the EU - for various reasons. Firstly, it would completely bankrupt us financially," Dagdelen said during the broadcast.
According to the European Commission's calculations, the country's integration into the EU would cost the bloc €186 billion, the MP emphasized.
Dagdelen also called Ukraine a "thoroughly corrupt country," which is alien to democratic rights and freedoms, and in which "opposition parties and media are banned."
Europeans' main interest is to have good and peaceful relations with their neighbors, which includes Russia, Dagdelen said.
On January 21, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine is not yet ready to join the EU, and he is not ready for its accession. According to him, the EU does not have the money to accept Kiev. In addition, he urged Ukraine to first settle relations with Slovakia and Hungary.
Ukraine officially applied for EU membership on February 28, 2022.
