Russia informs CSTO ambassadors about talks with the US


Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told the ambassadors of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states about the recent talks between Russia and the United States. This is reported in a statement on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on February 20.
According to the ministry, during the briefing the leadership of the CSTO countries' diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow were informed about key aspects of the recent high-level contacts between representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States.
"There was a constructive exchange of views on the situation in the field of international security," the ministry added.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the talks between the Russian Federation and the United States useful. The Russian Foreign Minister specified that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the importance for each state to be guided by its national interests. The Russian side expressed full agreement, Lavrov added.
Thetalks between the Russian and US delegations took place in one of the palaces of the royal family in Riyadh on Tuesday, February 18. At their conclusion, the U.S. side said that the U.S. considers the meeting with the Russian delegation "an important step forward" to end the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, the State Department specified that additional steps were still required.
