The color scheme for murals on the pillars of the posts in Pskov has been chosen

In Pskov it is recommended to use a monochrome color scheme on the bridge piers to depict historical figures who have been consecrated as saints. Such an answer was given by the regional committee for the protection of cultural heritage objects to the request of the regional committee for youth policy.
According to the Pskov newswire, the issue of approval of draft designs for the application of murals on the supports of the Olginsky Bridge and the 50th Anniversary of October Bridge was raised in September 2024. According to experts, there is no direct ban on the placement of murals within the boundaries of the territories of the historical settlement and protection zones of cultural heritage objects, where these bridges are located.
At the same time, the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites proposed to consider alternative variants of plots. However, experts explained that the placement of historical figures listed as saints on the bridge piers without taking into account the opinion of the Pskov diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church and the regional department of architecture and urban planning may cause a negative reaction from a certain part of the population.
In order to prevent a dissonant effect on the heritage objects, which are recognized as especially valuable, the Committee for the Protection of OKNS recommended to make the images in monochrome color scheme.
At the end of January it was reported that the building of the international airport named after Princess Olga in Pskov will be overhauled.
