Father of a mountaineer missing in North Ossetia did not know of his whereabouts

The father of climber Vladimir Emelyanov, who disappeared in the mountains of North Ossetia, told Izvestia on February 20 that his son always informed about his plans, but not this time.
"No, he did not know. He sent us a video still, that he on the waterfall, on the frozen, he and the guys did the ascent. And the fact that they left <...>, I didn't even know he was in North Ossetia. He usually reported that such plans, but here he kind of, maybe, got swamped," he said.
According to him, Emelyanov has been involved in industrial mountaineering since he was 14 years old and has always been on a first-name basis with heights.
"He is a leader in himself <...>, his character is like that," the man added.
The climber has two sons, now they are with their mother.
Vladimir Emelyanov and Danil Kadyrmaev came to Digoria for the ice festival "Taymazi 2025". On February 19, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported that two tourists from St. Petersburg stopped communicating in the Tanadon Gorge. Later it was reported that several avalanches had descended in the area. In the evening of the same day, rescuers suspended the search due to weather conditions.
