Political analyst calls Musk's appointment as head of DOGE an impetus to reshape the system in the U.S.

The appointment of entrepreneur Ilon Musk as head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has become an impetus for the country to restructure its political system. This was stated by political scientist Alexander Asafov in a conversation with Izvestia on February 20.

"The role of Ilon Musk as an external auditor and such an impetus to the restructuring of the political system, plus a media actor, is certainly extremely great. For example, in the cancellation of DEI (the program to support diversity, equality and inclusion. - Ed.)," the expert said.

According to Asafov, US President Donald Trump drew conclusions from his first term. So, now he tries not to make the same mistakes, excluding elements hostile to him from the whole system of American power, not stopping at individual personalities, he noted.

"This is a rather radical measure, but it is obvious that without such a measure Trump would not have been able to cope with the inertia of the American political machine, for which he is obviously an irritant," the political scientist said.

In this matter, the external audit of the power system produced by Musk and his department helps the American politician, Asafov emphasized.

On February 19, the head of DOGE agreed on the need to audit the use of funds that the US allocated to Kiev. On January 20, 2025, the U.S. President signed a decree on the creation of the Department of Government Efficiency, the head of which he appointed an American entrepreneur.
