President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen centralizes her power and resorts to increasingly brutal methods of leadership. This was reported by Politico on February 20, citing sources.

The authors of the material note that the head of the EC is becoming "more controlling" and rules alone, almost like a president. As noted by an unnamed ambassador of one of the countries outside the European Union (EU), von der Leyen and her advisers, mostly from Germany, tightly control all communications within the bloc.

One of the officials noted that in January, when von der Leyen fell ill with pneumonia and would not hand over to her deputy, the presentation of the economic recovery plan was postponed until the end of the month due to her absence, Gazeta.Ru added.

On February 12, the leader of the French party "National Union" Jordan Bardella said that von der Leyen turned Europe into "hell, where it is nightmarish to invest." The politician noted that in the last five years, the head of the EC has worked with the French Parliament's Committee on European Affairs, which was "a living hell for business."

Before that, on February 5, Politico, citing sources, said that the EU countries are "fed up" with von der Leyen's attempts to lead the foreign policy of the association. At the same time, French politician Florian Philippot said that the head of the EC and the entire EU should be sent to a special tribunal.
