Turbo engines have a more complex design than atmospheric engines, are very sensitive to the quality of service and consumables, and are at least 50% more expensive. This was reported on February 20 by the VAZ Telegram channel "Let's get along with Lada", explaining why there are no turbo engines in the Lada lineup.

"It is no coincidence that the same turbine is the first question when it comes to the secondary market: whether the part lives long, whether it can be repaired, and so on. Engineering experience has shown that it is impossible to make a turbo engine by simply installing a turbocharger on an atmospheric engine. We will have to almost completely "re-do" the base motor: change materials, lubrication system, cooling, crankcase ventilation," - said the representatives of the brand.

The automaker emphasized that the installation of a turbo motor on a production car instead of an atmospheric one requires a serious reworking of the car because of the increase in power: modernization affects the gearbox, suspension, brakes, cooling system. As a result, the car with a turbo turns out to be about 50% more expensive, the report notes.

The company also explained that the 145-horsepower engine from the Lada Vesta Sport is not suitable for mass Lada models, as it is a specific unit designed to work at high speeds. For an ordinary family sedan "it will be somewhat alien," Lada representatives pointed out. Now this engine is out of production, it was produced piece by piece.

February 14, it was reported that the acceleration time from zero to one hundred in the Lada Niva Sport has been reduced by five seconds compared to the classic Niva Legend, and the top speed has increased by 20 km/h. Lada Niva Sport is equipped with a 1.6-liter 16-valve engine from Granta Sport with an output of 122 hp. The standard Niva has a 1.7-liter eight-valve engine with an output of 83 hp.

On January 27, AvtoVAZ began equipping Lada Vesta cars with a new transmission - a 6-speed manual. The automaker noted that such a gearbox is introduced on production cars for the first time. In the future, the installation of this unit is also possible on other Lada models. The gearbox is designed to transmit torque up to 220 Nm, which is enough to work with the 1.8 Evo engine.
