U.S. President Donald Trump is trying to split NATO, as the leaders of the USSR and Russia have wanted since the time of Joseph Stalin. Former U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel told The Hill newspaper on February 20.

"Since the time of Joseph Stalin, this has been the only goal, and the American president has realized his dream," he believes.

According to Emanuel, Trump is a "huge asset" in the idea of splitting the alliance.

He also agreed with another statement by political analyst Mike Murphy that the US presidential administration is actively promoting Russian foreign policy goals that allow Russia to engage in bilateral talks.

Earlier in the day, the media learned about the European Union's concerns about the destruction of the Transatlantic Alliance, as Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump want to "destroy" Europe. It is noted that Trump wants to make Europe "take more responsibility for its security to strengthen NATO".
