On February 19, Chelyabinsk hosted the official opening of the photo exhibition of Pavel Volkov, journalist of Izvestia. The exposition unfolded on the central Kirov Street. The organizers of the event were the Union of Artists and the creative association "Stone Belt".

The exhibition includes archive photos taken by Pavel in 2014 during the events on Maidan, in Donetsk, Slavyansk and Lugansk. A series of works with the telling title "Requiem" is also presented. It is dedicated to the events of 2022 and tells about the life of civilians in the war zone by means of documentary photography without embellishments. The shooting of "Requiem" lasted for three months in 2022. Pavel Volkov made three trips to the LNR: in May 2022, the reporter traveled to the West together with the front line, and in September of the same year he filmed the referendum on the annexation of the new territories. The footage shows the aftermath of shelling of civilians, the ravaged lives of the elderly and children who died under the bombardment.

Muscovites and guests of the capital could get acquainted with Pavel Volkov's exhibition on Arbat. And now the new exposition is again on the pedestrian street, but already in Chelyabinsk. The exposition does not include all the works of the Izvestia photographer that deserve attention, but you can see them in the premises of the United Russia public support headquarters.

Pavel Volkov's project has been noticed before: the series of works "Requiem" won the All-Russian contest of military photojournalism in 2023.
