Zvezda TV channel celebrates its anniversary on February 20 - exactly 20 years ago it began broadcasting. The first broadcasts were initially aired only in Moscow, but a year later the signal spread to other regions of Russia. In 2009, Zvezda received the status of a federal channel.

According to Alexei Pimanov, president of the Krasnaya Zvezda media holding, Zvezda currently has a large audience that enjoys military, historical, socio-political programs and documentary projects.

The president of the media holding company said that at the start of broadcasting, Zvezda had minimal funding, so there were always not enough presenters, and the channel could only broadcast three newscasts a day and old movies.

"Offered just interesting work. Said, look, there's no money, but I can let you instead of leading "Field of Miracles", Yakubovich, to lead the program "Zvezda" on "Zvezda". Interview the stars every night. It turned out to be very interesting for him," - said Pimanov.

In recent years, the channel has become a market leader in terms of audience growth. It is part of a media holding company that combines a movie and television company, Zvezda radio and Internet resources.
