A crew of TOS-1A Solntsepek heavy flamethrower systems of Tula units of the Airborne Troops (VDV) has hit and destroyed camouflaged positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Sujansky district of Kursk region. This was reported in the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on February 20.

"In the Sujansky district of Kursk region, calculations of heavy flamethrower systems "Solntsepek" of the Tula Guards Airborne Compound perform daily firing tasks to destroy fortified long-term strongholds, positions and dugouts with the enemy's manpower," the military ministry said.

It is reported that a package of 23 thermobaric charges of the Solntsepek system is capable of hitting an area of up to 40,000 square meters with fire, destroying the enemy's manpower, lightly armored vehicles and fortifications.

"The technique is quite serious, modern. We work with various munitions. The enemy is very afraid when we go out on a task, respectively, in every possible way hunting for us. My unit with valor, honor performs all tasks. We will liberate the Kursk land, the enemy will be defeated," said the head of the RHBZ service of the Tula Guards Airborne Troops with the call sign Krym.

Crews of heavy flamethrower systems work at night much more often than during the day. This is due to both greater safety and the effect of surprise, which allows enemy soldiers to be taken by surprise during a volley.

On February 18, the Defense Ministry showed footage of Solntsepek destroying AFU fighters near Kharkiv. It is reported that the system's calculation successfully hit an enemy cluster during a combat mission.
