The U.S. Internal Revenue Service from February 20, the reduction of about 6 thousand employees as part of the struggle of the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump with bureaucracy. This was reported by The New York Times on February 19.

It is specified that the layoffs will target relatively recently settled employees who were actively recruited by the administration of former President Joe Biden.

"In recent days, the Trump administration has begun laying off probationary employees," the newspaper informed.

In addition, the sources said, the agency's managers began demanding that employees return government equipment on February 19.

On the same day, it was reported about the plans of U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to fire generals and admirals who disagree with Trump. Officials said most of those hit had expressed views that Trump's allies considered politically inconsistent with the agenda or were closely aligned with former Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
