Investigators of the Chita Ministry of Internal Affairs investigated a criminal case on smuggling of more than 6 thousand cubic meters of timber worth more than 49 million rubles, in which a 52-year-old citizen of one of the East Asian countries, who has experience in exporting strategically important resources, is accused. This is stated by the transport police of Transbaikalia in its Telegram-channel on February 20.

"During the preliminary investigation it was established that the figurehead several years ago created an organized group. The foreigner involved two Russians in criminal activity," - said in a statement of the agency.

One of the citizens of the Russian Federation registered as the director of a limited liability company. It is specified that the man knew that he would be a nominal director, and actually did not intend to run the company. After the Chita resident received all the necessary documents, he handed them over to the organizer of the criminal scheme and his accomplice.

On behalf of the organization, the foreigner and his accomplice concluded foreign trade contracts with companies of the neighboring state and for four years exported timber from ordinary pine and larch from Russia. It is noted that the accomplices declared the cargo as unprocessed timber, entering incorrect data in the documents.

At the moment the firm has stopped its work. Materials of criminal cases were sent to court for consideration on the merits.

Earlier, February 14, Leninsky district court of Irkutsk sentenced the husband and wife to different terms of seven years and six months of general regime colony for smuggling timber worth more than 111 million rubles.
