Since the beginning of the year, at least six regions have recorded tick bites

In the first month of 2025, 78 tick bites were registered in Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Crimea, Sevastopol and Rostov Region, as well as in the west of Russia - in Kaliningrad Region, Rospotrebnadzor told Izvestia. At the same time, the supervisory body noted that there are no confirmed cases of infection with diseases carried by ticks.
As told in "Invitro", since January 2025 they received 62 ticks from five federal districts for research. They noted that in the same period last year this figure was twice lower. Then there were 36 appeals about arthropod bites.
"The leader in the number of appeals this year was the Southern Federal District. 33 cases were recorded there. In the Central Federal District - 19, in the Ural - five, in the North-Western - three, in the Volga - two," - specified in the laboratory.
Experts interviewed by "Izvestia" expressed fear that people due to the shift in the timing of tick activity will not have time to vaccinate in time, due to which immunity to diseases carried by arthropods will not have time to form. This, they believe, will increase the risk of contracting such infections.
The only way to protect oneself from contracting arthropod-borne diseases, they say, is vaccination. But it is carried out only against tick-borne encephalitis.
