In 2025, it is planned to spend about 700 billion rubles from the National Welfare Fund (NWF) on investment projects. The press service of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation told Izvestia. However, a year earlier, 1.1 trillion rubles was allocated for infrastructure projects.

According to the budget, this year the money is not going to be used to pay off the treasury deficit, but in 2024, 1.3 trillion was used for this purpose. 600 million is also going to be allocated from the "coffers" for co-financing of pension savings. For comparison, a year earlier 200 million was allocated for this purpose.

In other words, according to "Izvestia" calculations, the total amount allocated from the National Wealth Fund in 2024 exceeds Br2.4 trillion, which is almost 3.5 times more than the expenditures planned for this year.

In the fall, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that the National Wealth Fund would no longer be used to finance the deficit. The shortfall will be covered by government borrowing.

In 2025, funds from the National Wealth Fund are planned to be spent on industry and transportation, the Ministry of Economic Development said. The largest expenditure of 300 billion will be spent on the development of high-speed railroad from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
